POSTCARDS FROM PARIS: INSIGHTS FROM DÉCO OFF & NEW PHILLIP JEFFRIES LAUNCH
April 2, 2026 | By The Textile Company | News
Following our inspiring journey to Paris Déco Off, The Textile Company brought the magic of Paris directly to Australia’s design community through intimate lunchtime presentations in Melbourne and Sydney. These exclusive events combined fresh insights from the international design capital with the exciting launch of Phillip Jeffries latest collection, ‘Night at the Theatre‘.
Hosted at our Prahran and Alexandria showrooms, these gatherings provided the perfect opportunity to reconnect with our design community after the summer break, sharing invaluable trends and stories while introducing a collection that captures the romance and theatricality of Paris’ golden age.
MELBOURNE
Our Prahran showroom came alive on February 19th as Melbourne’s design community gathered for an inspiring start to the year. The intimate setting provided the perfect backdrop to explore how leading Parisian textile houses are embracing strong brand identity, legacy and craftsmanship – looking to archives and artisanship for inspiration while evolving through modern techniques and technologies.
Attendees were captivated by the exclusive behind-the-scenes stories we gathered directly from Philip Bershad (President/Owner) and Tara Van Lunen (VP of Design) during our time in Paris. The Melbourne presentation also highlighted key colour and material directions shaping interiors through 2026, offering valuable insights for upcoming projects. The launch of ‘Night at the Theatre’ was met with enthusiasm, as guests discovered the collection’s rich textures, gilded accents and thoughtfully curated palette of florals, feminine tones and earthy hues.
SYDNEY
A week later, our Alexandria showroom hosted Sydney’s design community for an equally engaging presentation. The event provided a wonderful opportunity to share the same inspiring insights from Paris Déco Off, exploring the fascinating balance between heritage and innovation that’s defining luxury interiors.
Sydney attendees were particularly drawn to the romantic, theatrical elements of the ‘Night at the Theatre’ collection, with its architectural details and Parisian inspiration resonating strongly. The session offered valuable sourcing opportunities for 2026 projects, while fostering the important connections within our design community that make these events so special. The intimate format allowed for deeper conversations about the trends and techniques we’d observed in Paris, creating an inspiring foundation for the year ahead.
