I LOVE A SUNBURNT COUNTRY: A COLLABORATION W/ COSH LIVING
October 1, 2025 | By The Textile Company | News
This season, our Sydney showroom window celebrates the spirit of Australia through a collaboration with Cosh Living. Inspired by the theme “I Love a Sunburnt Country”, the installation reflects the rich colours and textures of the Australian landscape as it moves through summer into autumn.
The display combines beautifully crafted furniture from Cosh Living with carefully selected textiles from The Textile Company and Misia, creating a layered outdoor setting that highlights both durability and design.
Featured pieces include the Forrest 2-Seater Sofa from Cosh Living upholstered in The Textile Company Salerno-601, the Johanna Small Ottoman in Misia Lumino-M417604 and cushions in Misia Soleil de Midi-M453202, Fabula-M366904 and Centuri-M525201.
For anyone discovering Cosh Living for the first time, please tell us a bit about the history of the brand and some of its core values.
Cosh Living is a 15-year-old Australian-owned indoor and outdoor furniture retail business. We design and manufacture in Australia, Indonesia and Italy depending on where the best producers are, and also import products from Potocco (Italy), Atelier Vier Kant and Tribu (Belgium), Dedon (Germany) and Rakumba, a beautiful Australian decorative lighting brand.
We have six stores nationally and recently merged with Dawsons & Co in New Zealand. Our focus has always been on authentic, timeless design, quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service.
What local designers do you think really encapsulate the Australian aesthetic and how do they use your pieces in their projects?
We’ve been fortunate to work with hundreds of Australian design practices over the years – from Woods Bagot and Bates Smart to Arent & Pyke, YSG, Greg Natale and Hare Klein, among many others.
As a multi-brand furniture supplier, designers typically select key pieces and customise them to suit their projects, particularly through fabric selections, which are upholstered at our Melbourne workshop.
For our Australian summer window, you chose some furniture from the Kett collection. Tell us a bit about this brand and the design inspiration behind its collections.
KETT has a refined Australian-European aesthetic. Creative Director Justin Hutchesson draws inspiration from the Great Ocean Road and surrounding hinterlands, translating those landscapes into colour, texture and layered materials. Craftsmanship and material quality are central to the brand.
KETT is owned and exclusively distributed in Australia by Cosh Living and by Dawsons in New Zealand, and has been developed over the past 10 years.
For the display we selected the Forrest two-seater sofa, named after a small inlet near Warrnambool. Its compact form and sinuous lines reflect the surrounding landscape. The frame is made from FSC-certified farmed teak, grown for over 50 years in Indonesia, with Tricord woven back support and quick-dry reticulated foam for outdoor comfort and practicality.
Strong design that allows beautiful fabrics to shine, while maintaining the durability expected of outdoor furniture is central to our ethos.
You selected The Textile Company’s private label Boutique outdoor range for the Forrest sofa. What do you love about this fabric collection?
The colouration, texture and variation in materiality. The collection offers a balance of weight, composition and unique design, while remaining suitable for all-weather outdoor conditions.
We also selected Misia outdoor fabrics for the ottoman and cushions. How do designers work with you to customise furniture with fabric, and what should be considered when selecting outdoor fabrics?
Because we have our own upholstery workshop in Melbourne, designers are able to provide their own fabrics (COM).
For outdoor performance, we recommend 100% solution-dyed acrylic, polyolefin or polypropylene, as these fibres perform best in Australia’s harsh conditions. If fabrics are blended, we suggest storing cushions or using protective covers to extend longevity and keep furniture clean and ready to enjoy.
What have you most enjoyed about Australia this summer?
My partner and I live in Coogee, so spending time at the beach is always our favourite pastime. I love long summer days, quiet mornings, evenings out with friends and family and plenty of entertaining on the balcony at home.
This summer has been wonderfully relaxed – just the right balance of everything. And I’ve just discovered Yo-Chi… what a great summer treat! Better late to the party than never.
