When a South Island couple handed Sarsfield Brooke full creative control of their Auckland city apartment, the brief was quality for the long term – an interior refined enough for quiet working weeks, yet warm and open when it’s time to entertain.

Phillip Jeffries wallcoverings do much of the quiet work throughout, layering texture and a sense of tailoring into every room. In the entry, 8718-Vinyl Plastered sets the tone from the moment the door opens – an artisanal, hand-finished look with the practicality of vinyl. In the TV nook, 9957-Vinyl Papyrus wraps the space in organic texture, creating the sense of enclosure and calm the design called for. And in the master bedroom, 5876-H-Studs And Stripes brings a fine stitched detail that plays beautifully against layered bedding in caramel and chocolate tones.

Paired with a palette of deep olive, vintage leathers and warm neutrals, the result is an apartment the owners describe as “absolutely divine to live in.”
