DANCING ON THE CEILING
by Decus Interiors
Set on the clifftops of Sydney’s Dover Heights, Dancing on the Ceiling sees Decus Interiors transform a simple ‘kit-home’ into a playful party house with sweeping ocean views. Countering the home’s rigid geometry with fluid forms – led by a sculptural elliptical stair, “the project’s principal dancer” – Decus layered the interiors with bold colour, rich materiality and tactility throughout.
Phillip Jeffries 1980-Totally Tatami wallcovering dresses the wardrobe, adding warmth and texture to the joinery. The result is a home that’s playful yet sophisticated, celebrating the joy of gathering against Sydney’s dramatic coastline.
