Our Story

INNOVATION &Passion

The Textile Company is passionate about introducing Australian and New Zealand design and decorating professionals to our portfolio of innovative fabric and wallcovering brands.

Our company was founded in 2012 by Peter Fitzgibbon, a true pioneer of the contemporary textile industry in Australia and New Zealand. Peter has over forty years of textiles experience. He launched his career in the late 70s at JP Keys, Auckland, before making the move to Australia in 1984 with wholesaler Keys Fabrics.

In 1997, Peter launched the Australian subsidiary of the iconic Crowson Fabrics, before expanding to New Zealand in 2000. He saw the inherent need to evolve the offering by introducing brands such as Phillip Jeffries and Camengo to the stable. These remain an integral part of our portfolio of brands today.

In 2012, Crowson Australia and New Zealand was rebranded and The Textile Company was born. It is a business built on great brands, longstanding relationships and a highly skilled team of industry specialists. We partner with the world’s best brands and mills to bring the latest textile trends to Australia and New Zealand.

...one thing has remained the same – a commitment to innovative design, quality product and exceptional customer service.

We are proud of our brand portfolio and we are also growing our private label collection, which offers a contemporary design aesthetic from world’s leading mills and available from stock.

At the Textile Company, our vision is to collaborate with industry professionals to create beautiful spaces in both the residential and contract areas. Since founding the business, we’ve evolved to meet the needs of a rapidly changing market. However, one thing has remained the same – a commitment to innovative design, quality product and exceptional customer service.
